Petal Pushers
Fall doesn’t exactly call to mind wildflowers, at least not for most people. But the Petal Pushers gardening group members know that fall is exactly the right time to plant wildflower seeds for an abundance of blooms in the spring. So, we’re devoting our September meeting to a discussion on growing wildflowers, led by noted horticulturist Manuel Flores, and to making wildflower seed balls to distribute in our meadows and gardens. (Making the seed balls in a great activity to do with kids and grandkids, too.) We will also be planning a field trip to the San Antonio Botanical Garden and to the semi-annual plant sale at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin. If you’re interested in gardening, wildflowers and landscaping, please e-mail Jill Manske (jmanske@gvtc.com) to find out more about the Petal Pushers.
